What is a MetaTrader API?+

It’s an API layer that makes MT4 and MT5 trading accounts accessible over REST and WebSocket — so your apps can retrieve account data and control trades without running MetaTrader yourself and without Expert Advisors.

Is this an MT4 API or MT5 API?+

Both. Each seat connects one MT4 or one MT5 account, and you can mix MT4 and MT5 seats on the same subscription.

Do I need MetaTrader running or an EA?+

No. MetaTrader API eliminates that requirement. All you need is an API key — no MetaTrader installation, no EA deployment.

Do you offer a WebSocket / streaming API?+

Yes. WebSocket streaming is included: live quotes, plus positions with live profit, orders and executed trades on the same socket. A typed gRPC interface is available too.

How do I get an MT4 / MT5 API key?+

Connect the account in the dashboard, then click “Generate key” on the account’s card: the key (mt5api_…) is shown once. Send it in the x-api-key header, with the account’s UUID as ?id=. Settings holds the management key (mt5mgmt_…) for connecting accounts from your backend.

Is this the official MetaQuotes Manager or Server API?+

No. MetaTrader API is an independent service and is not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by MetaQuotes. MetaQuotes offers no official public API for retail trading accounts; its Manager and Server APIs are licensed to brokers only.

What does it cost and how do I pay?+

Each seat is billed monthly, upfront: $14 for seats 1–4, $13 for seats 5–19 and $12 from the 20th seat. Payment is by card through Stripe, as a subscription. See our Terms and Fair Usage Policy.
